Brahim Ghali has sent one of his advisors, Salek Beyeh, to Mauritania to rally support from the country's political parties for the Polisario's stance. This initiative comes as Nouakchott's government seems to be gradually moving away from its long-held position of «positive neutrality» on the Sahara issue. According to media sources aligned with the Polisario, Ghali's envoy has successfully secured the backing of the main opposition force in the Mauritanian Parliament, the Islamist party Tawassoul (National Rally for Reform and Development), along with several leftist parties. However, he has yet to meet with Sid Ahmed Ould Mohamed, president of the Equity Party, which was established in 2022 by the current head of state, Mohamed Ould El Ghazouani. It is worth noting that the Mauritanian president met with a political and security delegation from the Polisario on November 18. In contrast to Algiers and the Polisario Front, Nouakchott welcomed the UN Security Council's adoption of a resolution on October 31, which emphasizes the importance of the Moroccan autonomy initiative for Western Sahara.
