DR ‹ › As 2026 begins, Morocco's dams have recorded a marked increase in water reserves, benefiting from sustained rainfall after several consecutive years of drought. The overall dam fill rate has reached 42.5%, equivalent to around 7.123 billion cubic meters of water, a level that has not been recorded in several years. It is worth noting that Morocco's dam storage capacity has increased over time. While the highest fill rate in recent years was recorded in January 2021, at 44.4%, water reserves at the time did not exceed 6.9 billion cubic meters. As for recent trends, the fill rate stood at around 28% in January 2025, 23.22% in January 2024, 31.6% in January 2023, and 34.2% in January 2022. Historically, the highest dam fill rate ever recorded in Morocco dates back to 2010, when reservoirs reached nearly 90% capacity, thanks to exceptionally heavy rainfall across the kingdom.
