DR ‹ › A 17-year-old boy died on Saturday afternoon at Mohamed V Regional Hospital in Tangier, after succumbing to complications from a severe head injury sustained during a violent altercation. The incident reportedly stemmed from a dispute over a commercial property. The victim had been admitted to the hospital on December 19 in critical condition. He arrived at the emergency department in a coma after suffering a heavy blow that caused internal bleeding and serious brain damage, according to medical sources. Local media reported that the incident followed a confrontation between two families in the neighborhood, which escalated into violence. Members of one family allegedly withdrew to their fourth-floor apartment and began throwing stones and household objects at the teenager, including a small gas cylinder that struck him on the head. Following the incident, police in the Beni Makada district opened an investigation, leading to the arrest of one suspect. By order of the public prosecutor at the Tangier Court of Appeal, the suspect has been placed in pre-trial detention at the local prison, pending the completion of the investigation and the determination of charges before referral to the criminal court.
