DR ‹ › The Royal Armed Forces announced on Wednesday the recovery of three bodies following an avalanche that occurred on January 18, 2026, along the route to Mount Toubkal near the Imlil refuge. According to a statement published on the official Facebook page of the Moroccan Armed Forces, units from the 1st Atlas Rifles Regiment, renowned for their expertise in mountain rescue and equipped with advanced avalanche victim detection systems, were mobilized to carry out search and rescue operations. These efforts were conducted in coordination with local authorities, the Royal Gendarmerie, and Civil Protection services. Despite harsh weather conditions and extremely difficult terrain, the rescue teams managed to clear access routes to the site of the accident. They subsequently located the missing individuals and recovered all three bodies.
