DR ‹ › The Ministry of Equipment and Water is urging road users to exercise caution and strictly comply with traffic regulations from Thursday evening through Monday, as weather forecasts point to potential disruptions on several roads due to heavy rain and snowfall expected across multiple provinces. According to an alert bulletin issued by the Directorate General of Meteorology, intense thunderstorms could bring rainfall totals ranging from 20 to 100 mm to various parts of the Kingdom. In addition, heavy snowfall is forecast at elevations above 1,200 meters, with accumulations of 5 to 50 cm expected in the High and Middle Atlas, the Rif Mountains, and the High Oriental region. Given that these weather conditions coincide with the start of the school holidays, the ministry recommends postponing non-essential travel in the affected areas and avoiding travel at night whenever possible. Motorists are also advised to ensure their vehicles are in good working order before setting out, paying particular attention to the battery, brakes, lighting, tire pressure, windshield wipers, washer fluid, fuel level, and heating system. Extra caution is required on roads prone to flooding, especially in low-lying areas and at crossings over oueds and chaâbas. The ministry strongly warns against attempting to cross flooded fords, exceeding speed limits, overtaking, or making sudden maneuvers, and stresses the importance of maintaining safe distances between vehicles. Drivers are reminded to respect road signage and follow the instructions of local authorities and on-site patrols to ensure the safe flow of traffic.
