DR ‹ › Massad Boulos, special adviser to U.S. President Donald Trump on African and Arab affairs, commented on the Western Sahara negotiations that began on Sunday at the U.S. Embassy in Madrid. «Under President Trump's leadership, the United States remains committed to a just, lasting, and mutually-acceptable solution that advances durable peace and a better future for all in the region», Boulos wrote on the platform X. This position had already been underscored by President Trump's son-in-law during his official visits to Algiers in July 2025 and again in January 2026, where he urged, in talks with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, a revival of the political process under U.S. leadership. Boulos's remarks came just hours after the U.S. permanent mission to the United Nations issued its own official statement on the matter. So far, Morocco, Algeria, the Polisario Front, and Mauritania have not publicly reacted to the renewed negotiations, which were relaunched at the initiative of the Trump administration.
