Massad Boulos, the special advisor to the President of the United States for Africa, held separate meetings on Friday, September 26, in New York with the foreign ministers of Morocco and Algeria. During his discussion with Morocco's Foreign Minister, Boulos remarked, «we discuss opportunities to strengthen our strategic partnership and alliance, especially as U.S. firms pursue opportunities throughout all of Morocco including its territory of Western Sahara», stated Massad Boulos. «I discussed efforts to accelerate a political process and reaffirmed U.S. support for Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara and Morocco's autonomy plan as the only basis for a just and lasting resolution to the conflict. Both parties reiterated their «shared commitment to peace and stability in the region», noted the American official. To recall, Boulos visited Algiers at the end of July, where he met with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Minister Ahmed Attaf, discussing the Sahara issue among other topics. Massad Boulos also met this Friday on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly with the personal envoy of the Secretary-General for Western Sahara, Staffan de Mistura.
