This comes as reported by Jean-Michel Bourlès, the public prosecutor in Melun. The renewed interest in the case was sparked by a complaint lodged by Besneville's parents with the court's investigating judge, underscoring the persistent attention the French judiciary is paying to this matter. The victim's father expressed relief, stating, «It is good that the French judiciary is still interested in our case.» The incident dates back to April 2024, when 29-year-old Besneville, who also held Spanish citizenship, moved into a seaside apartment in Rabat. He was planning to open a pizzeria but mysteriously ceased all communication just before finalizing the lease agreement. His disappearance was reported to the French gendarmerie on April 25, 2024, and the case was subsequently handed over to both the French and Moroccan authorities. A regional judicial police officer in Rabat confirmed that Besneville vanished around 10:30 p.m. on April 10, noting that the investigation remains active. All his personal belongings, including documents, phones, a computer, and money, were found untouched in his apartment. Besneville's parents arrived in Rabat a few days before the investigation was reopened, where security officials reassured them that the search is ongoing and that all avenues are being explored.
