DR ‹ › On Saturday, an Algerian army patrol fatally shot three Sahrawis in the Dakhla camp, approximately 200 kilometers from Rabouni, the Polisario's administrative hub near Tindouf. The victims, who were prospecting for gold, were taken by surprise when the Algerian soldiers opened fire. Two were killed instantly, while the third, gravely wounded, died shortly after, as reported by a Sahrawi source to Yabiladi. The three young men were members of the Oulad Dlim tribe, a marginalized group within the Tindouf camps. This tribe frequently voices grievances over discrimination and harsh living conditions. This tragic incident unfolds amid ongoing tensions. Last February, youths from the same tribe set fire to several Polisario administrative buildings in protest over the unresolved death of one of their own, a young man named Rahmani. The Algerian army has a history of targeting Sahrawi gold prospectors, yet the Polisario remains silent. The Front's media outlets continue to ignore these killings.
