Austria welcomed on Wednesday Morocco's actions in favor of developing a new model of South-South cooperation, emphasizing the importance of promoting triangular cooperation between Austria, Morocco, and their partners on the African continent.
In a joint Communiqué issued following the working visit to Vienna by Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates Mr. Nasser Bourita, at the invitation of Federal Minister for European and International Affairs Ms. Beate Meinl-Reisinger, Rabat and Vienna emphasized the importance of developing cooperation, partnership, and dialogue between the EU and its southern neighborhood, as well as with the Euro-African region. In this regard, Austria welcomes the joint Communiqué of the 15th EU-Morocco Association Council, held in Brussels on January 29, 2026, in which Morocco and the EU warmly welcomed the Pact of the Mediterranean, launched in Barcelona on November 28, 2025, embodying the strategic ambition to redefine relations between the EU and its southern partners, in a spirit of partnership based on mutual trust and shared responsibility. On this occasion, the two countries reaffirmed their commitment to the two-State solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict, a solution where « two democratic States, Israel and Palestine, live side by side in peace within secure and recognized borders, consistent with international law and relevant UN resolutions. »
