The investigative judge at the Court of Appeals in Settat ordered on Wednesday evening the detention of the main suspect in the horrific Benahmed murder case at the local Ali Moumen prison. The decision came after a thorough investigation, during which the suspect was charged with premeditated murder, mutilation of corpses, and aggravated theft. Field and forensic investigations conducted by the security services led to the discovery of human remains in multiple locations, including the toilets of the Grand Mosque, fields near Al Wahda School, and the suspect's residence. DNA analyses confirmed that some of the remains belong to a second potential victim, raising the possibility of multiple homicides. The city remains on high alert, particularly after witnesses reported that the suspect was known for his violent behavior and frequent possession of bladed weapons. He was also known for offering water to worshippers in the mosque's toilets, where the first remains were discovered.
