The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion has announced the organization of a trade fair in Nouakchott, from May 22 to 28. The event aims to «highlight Algeria's productive capacities in various sectors», according to the official statement. The ministry is calling on Algerian economic operators to participate in large numbers. This announcement comes shortly after Morocco's trade week, which took place in the Mauritanian capital from April 24 to 30. Morocco and Algeria are competing for influence in Mauritania, both seeking to expand their economic, military, and media presence in the country. Additionally, Rabat and Nouakchott are preparing to revise the trade agreement signed between the two countries in 1986. This revision was discussed on the sidelines of the Moroccan trade week by a joint technical committee, led by Mauritanian Minister of Commerce and Tourism, Zeinebou Mint Ahmednah, and Moroccan Secretary of State for Foreign Trade, Omar Hjira.
