A gendarme was seriously injured on Wednesday morning after being shot with a hunting rifle during a security operation in the Sidi Bibi commune, part of the Chtouka Ait Baha province. The incident occurred as Royal Gendarmerie officers attempted to disrupt an irregular migration operation along the coast near Sidi Toual Beach, which falls under the commune's jurisdiction. According to initial reports, the gunfire that wounded the officer is believed to have come from a member of a criminal network involved in organizing irregular migration. Individuals in two four-wheel-drive vehicles reportedly opened fire on the patrol, striking the officer in several parts of his body. The injured gendarme was rushed to the military hospital in Agadir in critical condition to receive urgent medical treatment. Meanwhile, the operation continued, resulting in the arrest of dozens of individuals attempting to migrate irregularly. An in-depth investigation has been launched to determine the exact circumstances of the attack and identify those responsible.
