On Thursday, police at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca arrested a 42-year-old foreign national from an Arab country upon his arrival in Morocco on a flight from Turkey. A background check revealed that the individual was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by judicial authorities in the United Arab Emirates. The warrant stems from an in-absentia prison sentence handed down in December 2019, related to charges of breach of trust and embezzlement. Moroccan authorities have initiated the legal procedures required under the extradition framework, pending the man's appearance before the competent public prosecutor. The UAE has also been notified of the arrest via the Arab Liaison Division of the General Directorate of National Security.
