A French delegation from the city of Nice met on Thursday in Dakhla with Erragheb Hormatallah, President of the Dakhla Municipal Council, to explore ways to strengthen cooperation between the two cities in areas of mutual interest. Led by Olivier Bettati, special advisor to the Mayor of Nice, the delegation was introduced to the promising potential of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, its dynamic development, and the major projects currently underway in this part of the Kingdom. Speaking to the press after the meeting, Bettati said he was «impressed by the rapid pace of progress across various projects». The visit gave the delegation an opportunity to learn about several key developments, particularly the Dakhla Atlantic Port. He noted that Dakhla is clearly focused on building a prosperous future for its population, especially in terms of access to education and healthcare, supported by strong infrastructure. In this context, Bettati added that the planned twinning agreement between Dakhla and Nice aims to establish a mutually beneficial partnership. For his part, Hormatallah said the meeting was an opportunity to discuss ways of enhancing cooperation across several areas of shared interest, including the upcoming twinning agreement between the two cities. The French delegation also held a series of meetings with local officials, focusing on various aspects of the region's ongoing development. In addition, the delegation conducted field visits to major infrastructure projects, including the construction site of the Dakhla Atlantic Port and the seawater desalination plant.
