The number of overnight stays in classified tourist accommodation establishments (EHTC) in Morocco reached over 11.88 million by the end of May 2025, marking a strong 14% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Tourism Observatory. This growth was driven by both domestic and international tourism, with domestic overnight stays rising by 5% and international stays surging by 17%, based on the Observatory's latest tourism statistics. Several destinations recorded notable gains compared to May 2024, including Tangier (+24%), Casablanca (+20%), Fez (+19%), Essaouira (+16%), Al Haouz (+14%), Agadir (+10%), and Marrakech (+7%). Meanwhile, foreign currency revenues from tourism by non-residents exceeded 45.12 billion dirhams in the first five months of 2025, reflecting an 8.5% year-on-year increase. Tourist arrivals at Morocco's border posts also saw a significant boost, reaching 7,219,190 by the end of May—up 22% from the same period in 2024.
