The Spanish Civil Guard apprehended two Moroccan fishermen on Wednesday in Ceuta after they were caught attempting to smuggle six Moroccan migrants aboard a fishing vessel. According to El Faro de Ceuta, the Civil Guard's Marine Service Unit became suspicious of a boat navigating without lights and heading directly toward the coast, an area known as a common drop-off point where migrants are left to swim ashore. Upon intercepting the vessel, which was flying the Moroccan flag, officers initially spotted three individuals on deck. A closer inspection, however, revealed six hidden migrants onboard. One of the migrants was arrested due to an outstanding warrant, while the others were handed over to the Spanish National Police. Authorities also seized the boat, along with €1,100 in cash and a GPS device. Once legal procedures are completed, the two fishermen are expected to appear in court to face charges related to migrant smuggling and immigration violations.
