The Polisario Front is gearing up to host the 49th edition of the «European Conference of Solidarity and Support for the Sahrawi People (EUCOCO)» on November 28 and 29 in Paris, as announced by a Spanish NGO aligned with the Front. The conference will commence on November 28 with a gathering at the French Senate. «Deputies, senators, and representatives from legislative assemblies across Europe will convene to advocate for legislative and diplomatic initiatives aimed at urging European governments to acknowledge their historical and political responsibility in the decolonization of Western Sahara», the organizers stated. It is worth noting that the «International Network of Parliamentarians for the Self-Determination of Western Sahara» was established in June 2018 at the French National Assembly. Recently, the Polisario has ramped up its activities in France. This is highlighted by the «Solidarity March with Sahrawi Detainees», initiated at the end of March from Paris. In response to the opening, on June 21, of the Moroccan consulate in Mantes-la-Jolie, the Front inaugurated a «Sahrawi Culture House» on June 30 in Limay, near Paris, which they regard as a «symbolic embassy of the Sahrawis abroad». On July 30, 2024, France officially recognized Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara. Furthermore, the President of the French Senate, Gérard Larcher, made working visits to Laâyoune and Dakhla in February.
