Morocco has pledged its support to European efforts to tackle the raging forest fires in Spain by deploying two Canadair aircraft. These planes will be dispatched from Portugal, which recently sought Morocco's assistance to combat its own devastating fires earlier this week. This development was highlighted in a Facebook post by the German Embassy in Morocco. The embassy stated, «Firefighters from Germany are heading to Spain to help combat the massive forest fires», and added, «67 firefighters are expected to arrive today aboard 21 vehicles to support the Spanish authorities over the next two weeks. They will collaborate on the Iberian Peninsula alongside the Moroccan Canadair planes sent to Portugal». Spain is currently enduring its most severe fire season since records began nearly two decades ago. The blazes have ravaged over 340,000 hectares, forcing authorities to evacuate thousands of residents and shut down major roads.
