Academy Award-winning South Korean director Bong Joon Ho will chair the jury of the 22nd Marrakech International Film Festival, scheduled for November 28 to December 6, 2025. The jury will award the Etoile d'Or to one of 14 first and second feature-length films in the international competition dedicated to discovering filmmakers worldwide. This competition focuses on fresh voices in international cinema. «For many years, Marrakech has been a champion of fresh, beautiful films. I'm delighted and honored to be part of that tradition. I look forward to sharing a powerful cinematic experience with the festival audience and reflecting on the true value of cinema», Bong stated upon the announcement of his appointment. Bong made history with «Parasite» as the first non-English-speaking filmmaker to win the Academy Award for Best Picture. The director has won prestigious international awards, including the Palme d'Or, three Oscars, and two BAFTAs, and has received Golden Globe nominations.
