Morocco welcomed 13.5 million tourists by the end of August 2025, marking a 15% increase compared to the same period in 2024, the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy announced. In a press release, the ministry highlighted that summer 2025 recorded exceptional results, with 4.6 million visitors in July and August alone, up 6% from last year. The sector, it noted, continues to maintain strong momentum. A key feature of this summer season was the strong return of Moroccans living abroad (MREs), who numbered 3 million, a 13% rise from 2024. This reflects, the ministry explained, both the enduring attachment of Moroccans to their homeland and Morocco's growing ability to attract more international tourists. The ministry stressed that this performance confirms Morocco's increasing appeal, as well as the effectiveness of the Tourism Roadmap 2023–2026, which focuses on strengthening air connectivity and enriching the tourism offering. This includes incentive measures to encourage investment in leisure and accommodation facilities. The statement added that the achievement is particularly noteworthy given that, according to the World Tourism Organization, global tourism growth is expected to reach only 5% in 2025, well below Morocco's pace.
