The second edition of TOC Africa 2025 is taking place on September 17 and 18 in Tangier, under the theme «Trade, tariffs, and tensions… How to move forward?». Organized by Tanger Med in collaboration with TOC Worldwide, this event serves as a premier global gathering designed to invigorate the maritime and logistics sectors, according to a press release. The TOC (Terminal Operations Conference) editions are hosted in the «nerve centers of global trade: in Europe in Rotterdam, in Asia in Singapore, and in America in Panama», the organizers highlight. «Its return to Tangier, following a successful inaugural edition in 2023, underscores the strategic significance of Tanger Med. As the largest container port in Africa and the Mediterranean, it stands as a crucial hub for global maritime trade, situated on the Strait of Gibraltar and serving as the official host for the 2025 edition», they emphasize. The opening ceremony featured remarks from Mehdi Tazi Riffi, CEO of the Tanger Med Special Agency, and Paul Holloway, CEO of TOC Worldwide. Both leaders commended the event's timing, acknowledging the complexities of the current «global trade outlook», the «strategic positioning of shipowners and ports», and the «imperatives of energy transition and decarbonization». The agenda included discussions on topics such as «the port as a catalyst for trade and cooperation in Africa; the role of African ports in global trade, challenges and opportunities within African supply chains, investment in intra-African trade and logistics corridors, sustainability and climate change, the digital maturity of the African port sector, and the efficiency of port terminal operations». According to the organizers, the event attracted «more than 400 participants and key stakeholders from the port and logistics sectors across 66 countries, including 41 African nations, alongside nearly 20 port authorities and over 50 international speakers».
