The International Academy of Scientific Francophonie (AIFS) held its second board meeting on Thursday in Rabat, focusing on the universal challenges of research and science. Chaired by André Azoulay, advisor to the King and president of the Academy's board, the meeting reviewed the key actions undertaken in recent months and presented projects planned for the near future. On this occasion, Azoulay expressed his pride in seeing Morocco host the Academy's second board session, calling the AIFS «a prestigious institution serving science and the Francophonie». He added that the event also reaffirms Morocco's openness and influence beyond its borders, as demonstrated by this gathering of the Francophone scientific community in Rabat. Slim Khalbous, rector of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), stressed that the board represents the Academy's highest authority, responsible for setting major orientations and strategic priorities for Francophone scientific publishing and governance, while also supporting research and scientific collaboration within the Francophone sphere. This body, he explained, brings together around twenty leading international organizations from some fifteen countries active in science, knowledge, and culture, offering a «remarkable diversity of thought». The AIFS seeks to respond to the expectations of young people, teachers, researchers, policymakers, and international donors, as well as the broader educational and academic ecosystem. Its goal is to work with all actors of scientific Francophonie to overcome obstacles, make the Francophone space more attractive and dynamic, and provide new opportunities for youth and scientists alike.
