Morocco's General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has firmly denied claims circulating on social media on Tuesday, September 30, accompanied by a photo showing a burning police vehicle and alleging it was set on fire during a protest in Casablanca the previous day. The DGSN clarified that investigations revealed the claims were false. The photo actually dates back to September 12, 2025, in the town of Laayoune's outskirts (El Marsa), where a police vehicle caught fire while undergoing repairs at a local mechanic's shop. At the time, a 17-year-old minor was arrested on suspicion of deliberately setting the fire. He was placed under judicial supervision at the request of the public prosecutor before being referred to justice once the investigation was completed. The DGSN reiterated its denial of the false report and confirmed that ongoing inquiries, under the supervision of the competent prosecutor, aim to determine the real motives behind the spread of such fabricated news.
