Morocco was elected this Friday as a member of the Executive Board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), which is holding the 43rd session of its General Conference in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The kingdom was elected to this important UNESCO body with 146 votes for a four-year term, according to the Moroccan delegation in Samarkand. Comprising 58 member states, UNESCO's Executive Board operates under the authority of the General Conference. It examines the organization's work program as well as the corresponding budget forecasts submitted by the Director-General of the UN organization.
