The Spanish National Court has approved the extradition of a man arrested in the Canary Islands to Morocco, where he is accused of belonging to a criminal network involved in organizing irregular sea migration. In its ruling, the court stated that the evidence submitted by Moroccan authorities is sufficient to justify extradition, rejecting the defense's argument that the request lacked specificity. Judges also noted that the alleged crimes are punishable in both Spain and Morocco, thereby meeting the requirement of dual criminality. The suspect was detained on May 22 in Puerto del Rosario, Fuerteventura, following an international arrest warrant issued by Morocco. He is believed to be part of a network facilitating illegal departures from Moroccan territory. The case is based on a security report from Sidi Ifni dating back to July 2024, which documents the discovery at his home of a rubber boat, navigation equipment, engines, and fuel barrels. According to the investigation, the suspect later admitted knowing individuals involved in these operations and acknowledged taking part in facilitating them.
