The Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) dismantled on Tuesday an international drug-trafficking network operating from beaches near Casablanca, which were being used as departure points for maritime smuggling operations using inflatable boats. The operation was carried out on the basis of precise intelligence provided by the Central Services of the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST). According to a BCIJ statement, eight individuals aged between 32 and 60, including two women, were arrested in Kenitra and Casablanca as part of this security operation, which falls within ongoing efforts to combat organized crime, particularly international drug trafficking. Searches led to the seizure of 390 bundles of chira, weighing a total of 16 tonnes, along with 2.5 million dirhams, six inflatable boats, eight outboard engines, four fuel barrels, as well as mobile phones, GPS tracking devices, and air pumps. The suspects have been placed in custody as the investigation, conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor's office, continues to uncover the network's national and international links and identify all individuals connected to the case.
