On Friday and Saturday, the Moroccan Embassy in China rolled out a mobile consulate to extend its services to Moroccans living in Shanghai and nearby regions. This inaugural consular visit to Shanghai aligns with the embassy's proximity policy, crafted to support the Moroccan community in China. This initiative is in accordance with royal directives and the strategic vision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad. During this mission, over forty Moroccan residents in the metropolitan area and surrounding provinces accessed approximately 80 different services. The services offered included the renewal of passports and national identity cards, along with the legalization of documents and civil status records. Furthermore, the embassy provided tailored assistance addressing administrative, social, and notarial concerns for the Moroccan community members. This initiative was warmly welcomed by Moroccans in Shanghai—situated over 1,200 kilometers south of Beijing—as well as those in neighboring cities. This consular mission represents the third such operation on Chinese soil, following similar efforts in Hong Kong in May and Guangdong Province in April. Looking ahead, the embassy aims to expand this initiative to China's most remote provinces, where deploying a mobile consulate is considered essential and advantageous for the Moroccan community, especially for the numerous students spread across the country.
