Morocco is set to host the inaugural International Conference dedicated to African victims of terrorism on December 2 and 3, 2025, in Rabat. This pivotal event aims to shed light on the human impact of terrorism across Africa and to bolster support and resilience mechanisms throughout the continent. Organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad, with backing from the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), this conference marks a groundbreaking initiative that positions African victims of terrorism at the forefront of strategic dialogues on preventing and countering violent extremism. The event will convene representatives from African governments, international and regional organizations, alongside associations of African terrorism victims, researchers, and specialized experts. Discussions will also delve into the role of survivors in prevention and resilience efforts, drawing on their testimonies, experiences, and contributions to rebuilding affected communities. Participants will exchange perspectives on topics such as the human toll of terrorism and the legal, institutional, and socio-economic challenges involved in supporting victims.
