Canada has launched a pilot program testing digital visas, with a small group of Moroccan citizens among the first invited to participate. The initiative, unveiled November 27, targets Moroccans who have already been approved for a visitor visa, offering them a digital version of their visa alongside the traditional counterfoil in their passport. The Canadian government says the pilot aims to modernize immigration services by making travel «faster, safer and more convenient». Digital visas reduce the need to mail or submit passports, improve verification and security, and lower administrative costs. They are also being tested for compatibility with airlines and other third-party systems. Ottawa emphasized that the project complies with Canadian and international privacy and security standards. Feedback collected from Moroccan participants will help shape the future rollout of digital immigration documents. Canada also reminds travelers that some Moroccan nationals may be eligible for an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) instead of a visa when traveling by air.
