Reaffirming the «consistent and constructive» position set out in the April 7, 2022 joint declaration between the President of the Spanish Government and King Mohammed VI, Spain expressed satisfaction with the latest UN development on the Sahara, saying it «fully supports the efforts of the Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy to facilitate and lead negotiations based on the autonomy initiative proposed by Morocco». Adopted in the context of the 13th High-Level Meeting between the two kingdoms, this stance confirms Spain's active support for the current UN roadmap, which places the Moroccan autonomy proposal at the centre of the political process.
