Nabil Benabdallah, Secretary General of the PPS / DR ‹ › The Secretary General of the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS), Mohamed Nabil Benabdallah, stated on Saturday, during a meeting of his party's central committee, that UN Security Council Resolution 2797, which endorses the relevance of the Moroccan autonomy plan for Western Sahara, should not be seen merely as a political solution to an artificial regional conflict. He described this context as a «genuine historical opportunity» that Morocco must seize «with clarity, responsibility, and a keen sense of national interest. According to him, the kingdom is entering a new strategic phase, marked by the need to shift from a logic of defense and advocacy to a dynamic of concrete implementation and effective action on the ground, through a sustained process of reforms and development. The PPS Secretary General emphasized the importance of implementing the recommendations from the report on the new development model as well as those from the Equity and Reconciliation Commission. He concluded by asserting that this effort must be accompanied by advanced regionalization across all regions of the kingdom, moving from a logic of oversight to one of freedom and responsibility, in order to correct spatial imbalances and ensure balanced, inclusive, and sustainable development.
