DR ‹ › Solid and patient, Morocco's Atlas Lions booked their place in the AFCON 2025 quarterfinals after a hard-fought 1–0 win over Tanzania on Sunday at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat. For his first knockout match, coach Walid Regragui started Achraf Hakimi on the right, with Bilal El Khannous in midfield. After withstanding early Tanzanian pressure, Morocco gradually took control, dominating possession and pushing the Taifa Stars back. The breakthrough came just after the hour mark. Set up by Hakimi on the right, Brahim Diaz cut inside and finished from a tight angle, scoring his fourth goal in as many matches, a first in Morocco's AFCON history. Morocco held firm until the final whistle and will now face the winner of the tie between South Africa national football team and Cameroon national football team in the quarterfinals.
