DR ‹ › As of January 1, 2026, the General Instruction on Foreign Exchange Operations (IGOC) has introduced new provisions, raising several financial caps. Announced by the Office of Foreign Exchange, this initiative aligns with the strategic vision for 2025-2029 aimed at «modernizing, clarifying, and easing» the regulatory framework. In this updated context, the personal travel allowance abroad is now capped at 500,000 dirhams per calendar year. This includes a base allowance of 100,000 DH, with an additional 400,000 DH determined by 30% of the income tax paid. The document also highlights that the cap for transferring living expenses for studies abroad has increased from 12,000 to 15,000 DH monthly. For business travel allowances, entities without foreign currency or convertible dirham accounts now have a cap of 1,000,000 DH, up from 500,000 DH, based on 100% of the tax paid. For categorized operators, the cap rises to 1,500,000 DH from the previous 1,000,000. Enhancements to e-commerce facilitation have also been made. Start-ups recognized by the Digital Development Agency (ADD) now benefit from an increased allowance, moving from 1 million DH to 2 million DH. Additionally, the authorized cap for Moroccan individuals, including Moroccans residing abroad (MRE), has been raised from 15,000 to 20,000 dirhams. Foreign residents in Morocco are allowed to transfer investment income without needing to prove foreign currency funding, as long as it does not exceed 2 million DH per year for investments maintained for over 10 years. Furthermore, holders of foreign contracts can now fund their foreign currency or convertible dirham accounts as service exporters, provided that the repatriated amounts do not surpass 15% of the total contract value. These provisions have been crafted following consultations with professional and institutional organizations. The aim is to transform the new IGOC version into a tool that facilitates operations between Morocco and international partners, thereby bolstering investment and innovation activities.
