The Atlas Lions and the Taifa Stars have met eight times in all competitions, with Morocco winning seven matches and losing only once, and no draws recorded. Morocco have scored in every encounter and kept five clean sheets, while Tanzania have failed to score in their last four meetings with the North African side, according to CAF stats. The two teams have faced each other once at AFCON, during the group stage of the 2023 edition, where Morocco cruised to a 3–0 victory before topping their group. Tanzania finished bottom. Tanzania's only win over Morocco dates back to a 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Dar es Salaam, where they secured a 3–1 home victory. Morocco won the return leg 2–1, though neither team qualified for the tournament. More recently, Morocco have dominated the fixture, winning each of the last five meetings, including two victories in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers (2–0 away in 2023 and 2–0 at home in 2025), as well as a 1–0 win over Tanzania in the quarter-finals of the 2024 African Nations Championship.
