DR ‹ › The former Moroccan international footballer and current beIN Sports analyst, Youssef Chippo, has addressed and clarified the recent controversy that has stirred over the past few days. Contrary to reports circulating in various Moroccan media outlets, Chippo confirmed that the Qatari network has not imposed any sanctions on Moroccan commentator Jawad Badda. In a video shared on his Facebook page recently, Chippo stated, «I have been receiving numerous inquiries about Jawad Badda. I can confirm that Jawad Badda remains the official commentator for the national team's matches. There is no suspension or anything similar. He will continue to commentate on all of the national team's matches, up to and including the final, God willing.» Several Moroccan news platforms, such as «Al-Omq» and «Hesport», had reported the previous day that beIN Sports had barred Badda from commentating on the upcoming semi-final match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations between Morocco and Nigeria, scheduled for next Wednesday. These outlets, citing «their sources», alleged that the decision stemmed from Badda's commentary during the quarter-final match between Morocco and Cameroon. He reportedly remarked on Moroccan player Noussair Mazraoui's marking of Cameroonian player Mueimbo, saying, «he's not dangerous, Noussair... He's not the player Toko Ekambi,» which was perceived by the channel as potentially offensive to Algerian sentiments. It is worth noting that Ekambi had scored the decisive goal against the Algerian team, securing Cameroon's spot in the 2022 World Cup held in Qatar.
