Jawad Badda, journalist at beIN Sports / DR ‹ › On Monday, January 12, MP Abderrahim Bouazza from the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) commended the professionalism of Moroccan sports journalist Jawad Badda, a commentator for the Qatari channel beIN Sports, during an oral questions session at the House of Representatives. The session, presided over by Mohamed Ouzzine, Secretary-General of the opposition Popular Movement (MP), also included a tribute to Badda, with Ouzzine voicing his support for the journalist. These acts of solidarity arise amidst a campaign launched by Algerian groups on social media and behind the scenes, urging Badda's employer to suspend or even terminate his contract. The controversy stems from Badda's remarks in which he described Cameroonian player Karl Toko Ekambi as a "legend." This comment provoked outrage among some Algerian netizens, as Ekambi scored the decisive goal that knocked the Fennecs out of the running for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. It's important to note that in May 2023, similar pressures from Algerian factions led to the dismissal of Moroccan journalist Abdessamad Nasser from the Al Jazeera news channel.
