DR ‹ › Moroccan authorities have extended the Anoual exploration permits held by British upstream gas company Sound Energy PLC until September 2028, according to a press release on Monday. The extension includes the drilling of the M5 exploration well, targeting Triassic reservoirs, with the option for additional 3D seismic surveys and further drilling. Sound Energy said its financial exposure to the M5 well is capped at roughly $2.5 million. The decision comes as the company reports continued progress at its Tendrara Phase I gas project in eastern Morocco. Operator Mana Energy has successfully flowed the TE-6 and TE-7 wells and completed testing of key sections of the gas gathering system. Sound Energy is also preparing to commission nine on-site power generation engines, including seven gas-fired units that will soon run on Tendrara gas, reducing diesel use, operating costs, and Scope 1 emissions. The company continues to assess short-term financing options ahead of first gas. Sound Energy is an AIM-listed energy company focused on onshore gas development in Morocco. It holds a 25-year concession at Tendrara, where a micro-LNG project is under way and a larger Phase II piped-gas project is pending final investment decision, covering a 28,000 km² onshore permit area.
