Sound Energy has announced a significant advancement in its gas development initiative at the Tendrara field in eastern Morocco. According to a statement, the company has commenced trial operations, successfully introducing the first quantities of gas into the Gas Gathering System (GGS) as part of its preparations for long-term production at the micro-LNG plant. Sound Energy reported receiving confirmation from Mana Energy Ltd, the operator holding a 55% stake in the production concession, about the initiation of initial operational activities for the development of the TE-5 Horst well. Sound Energy maintains a 20% interest in this concession. The statement highlighted that the final necessary component of the Gas Gathering System, the SCADA control and monitoring unit, was delivered on November 28, 2025. Following its installation, gas flow from the TE-6 well commenced, marking the start of the system's operational phase. The Italian firm Italfluid Geoenergy S.r.l (ITF) is responsible for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the micro-LNG plant. This includes comprehensive operational guarantees for the delivery of liquefied natural gas to Afriquia Gaz, a leading energy distributor in Morocco. The sales strategy is anchored in a binding commercial agreement with Afriquia Gaz, ensuring the purchase of 100 million standard cubic meters of gas annually over a decade. The project's first phase utilizes wells TE-6 and TE-7 and involves drilling a new well to secure the necessary gas quantities and sustain stable production for ten years. Construction of the on-site liquefaction plant is ongoing.
