DR ‹ › The Spanish judiciary has taken an extraordinary step to enforce a final ruling against the Moroccan consulate in Murcia after it repeatedly refused to comply with a court decision in a case involving sexual, professional, and psychological harassment of a former employee. According to Spanish media, the case is unprecedented, as the enforcement measure ultimately targets the Moroccan state itself, through the bank account of its consulate in the Murcia region. The decision follows months of non-compliance with the ruling and what the employee's defense has described as an «open resistance to the authority of the courts». The complainant accuses the former Moroccan consul of harassment, stating: «He is a predator. He gifted me a necklace and said it would fit perfectly on my chest». A final ruling issued by Murcia's Social Court No. 1 annulled the employee's dismissal, finding that it was the result of «disrespectful and degrading» treatment. The court concluded that the consulate's management deliberately exerted pressure to deteriorate her working conditions after she refused what it described as shameful demands and conduct. Faced with the consulate's refusal to comply, the court ordered the seizure of its bank account as a last resort. At the end of October, it authorized the electronic seizure of €57,413.33 from the consulate's current account, where the employee's salary had previously been paid, along with an additional €7,330.70 to cover interest and legal costs. The employee's lawyer, Joaquín Dolera, explained that the consulate exhausted all avenues of appeal without paying the amounts ordered by the court, forcing the judiciary to move to compulsory enforcement. He stressed that judicial enforcement mechanisms apply to any employer who refuses to execute a final ruling, without exception, including foreign consular representations.
