DR ‹ › Zineb El Kharroubi, a Moroccan activist based in France and a member of the GenZ 212 movement, was arrested on Thursday, February 12, upon her arrival at Marrakech Airport. «Her detention by airport police took place around 3 p.m. She was subsequently placed in custody», Omar Arbib, a member of the Marrakech branch of the Moroccan Association for Human Rights (AMDH), told Yabiladi. «El Kharroubi is being accused over social media posts published during the GenZ protests in Morocco. A complaint was filed against her by a citizen, alleging 'defamation and insult'», he added. Arbib also noted that «unofficial reports suggest she may be transferred to the headquarters of the National Brigade of Judicial Police (BNPJ) to continue the investigation». He further pointed out that the arrest comes at a time when lawyers are observing an indefinite strike.
