DR ‹ › In Manlleu, a city roughly 70 kilometers from Barcelona, the Spanish National Police have apprehended a man sought for extradition to Morocco. The individual is suspected of participating in human trafficking and is allegedly connected to a network facilitating irregular migration. On Monday, Spanish security authorities announced that the man was under an arrest warrant and detention order from the Spanish National Court, setting the stage for his extradition to Morocco. He is believed to be part of a criminal organization that smuggles migrants from Morocco to Spain using leisure boats. Investigations revealed that the suspect attempted to evade capture following the issuance of the extradition order in October 2025. He reportedly stopped updating his information in public records, frequently changed his residence and phone number, and cut ties with family members to avoid detection. After months of investigation and surveillance, law enforcement officials tracked him down at a café he regularly visited in Manlleu, leading to his arrest a few days ago. The suspect is currently in provisional detention as authorities finalize the procedures for his extradition to Morocco.
