DR ‹ › The Spanish Civil Guard's Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA) in Algeciras is currently investigating four individuals suspected of orchestrating the illegal transport of textile waste from Morocco. This investigation was launched following the discovery of large quantities of waste stored in a warehouse in the Campamento area and at the old landfill in La Línea de la Concepción. According to reports, these shipments were entering Spain via the Port of Algeciras, transported by trucks from third countries. The waste was then being stockpiled at sites that were not equipped for such storage, violating European and international regulations and posing significant fire hazards, as reported by Spanish media outlets. The investigation uncovered 97 transport operations lacking the necessary legal permits, with the total accumulated waste exceeding two thousand tons. The individuals involved could face penalties ranging from three months to a year in prison, or substantial financial fines.
