The Spanish Civil Guard at the Port of Algeciras has detained a truck driver who attempted to smuggle 591 mobile phones into Morocco. The devices were discovered hidden inside a double bottom of the truck during a routine inspection of vehicles bound for Tangier, according to local media reports. Officers became suspicious after noticing signs of tampering on the vehicle's rear wall. When they dismantled the structure, they uncovered the concealed shipment. Initial checks revealed that two of the seized phones had been reported stolen in the security database, prompting the driver's arrest on charges of possessing stolen property. The confiscated phones have been handed over to customs and border authorities pending the completion of investigations, which aim to determine the full number of stolen devices. The detainee and the seized goods have been referred to the Spanish judiciary.
