DR ‹ › This week, the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeal in Agadir handed down a 15-year prison sentence to a 28-year-old man involved in a harrowing case of sexual assault against two young girls in Ait Melloul. The court also ruled that the defendant must bear the trial costs and set the enforcement period at its minimum, while informing him of his right to appeal the decision within ten days. On February 11, 2026, the Public Prosecution at the Court of Appeal in Agadir decided to detain the suspect, holding him in Ait Melloul's local prison on charges of «violently assaulting two minors». The case dates back to February 8, 2026, when the families of two 11-year-old girls reported that their daughters had been victims of sexual assault and attempted rape in separate incidents in Ait Melloul. Following these reports, an investigation was launched and the judicial police, using surveillance camera footage, successfully identified and apprehended the suspect. Further investigations uncovered that the defendant had prior convictions for similar offenses involving the sexual assault of minors in 2023 and 2025.
