DR ‹ › A delegation from the Belgian Cooperation Agency (APEFE) is visiting Dakhla on April 15 and 16, accompanied by Belgium's deputy ambassador in Rabat. The visit includes meetings with several local officials, notably the regional governor, the president of the regional council, and the mayor. The delegation is also scheduled to visit the Regional Investment Center on Thursday to explore the province's economic potential. This visit comes amid evolving relations between Rabat and Brussels, particularly following Belgium's support for Morocco's autonomy plan for the Sahara, as outlined in the Joint Declaration signed in Brussels on October 23, 2025. This position was reaffirmed on March 2 in Rabat by Belgium's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maxime Prévot, after talks with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita. In press statements, Prévot said Belgium intends to act consistently with this position, both diplomatically and economically, while respecting international law. He also announced that a visit by the Belgian ambassador to the Sahara region is planned to support upcoming economic initiatives, including missions by Belgian companies and the organization of regional economic forums.
