DR ‹ › The total cost of measures implemented under the social dialogue framework is expected to reach 49.7 billion dirhams (MAD) by the end of 2026 and early 2027, Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills Younes Sekkouri said on Monday. He noted that this financial effort is aimed at supporting purchasing power and reducing social inequalities, in response to oral questions in the House of Representatives. Presenting the outcomes of these measures, Sekkouri said the guaranteed minimum interprofessional wage (SMIG) has increased from around 2,800 to 3,400 dirhams net. The minimum agricultural wage (SMAG) has also risen from less than 1,900 to 2,400 dirhams, effective this April. He added that at the start of its term, the government faced demands for a general salary increase, which was not feasible in 2023. «When the opportunity arose, a significant portion of the state budget was allocated to a general salary increase of 1,000 dirhams… in a difficult context», he said. As part of sectoral social dialogue, salary increases were also granted in certain fields, including education. A total of 325,000 civil servants benefited from raises ranging from 1,500 dirhams at the beginning of their careers to 5,000 dirhams at the end. The minister added that the private sector also benefited through income tax revisions, resulting in an average increase of around 400 dirhams, alongside reforms to pensions and old-age benefits. In this regard, he noted that the number of contribution days required to qualify for an old-age pension has been reduced from 3,240 to 1,320 days, with the option to recover contributions if the threshold is not met. He also referred to new measures in favor of private security agents, indicating that an amendment to Article 193 of the Labor Code will be submitted to the next Council of Government.
