DR ‹ › The Moroccan government has confirmed the implementation of proactive measures to mitigate the impact of escalating tensions in the Middle East on energy markets. Speaking on Thursday at a press conference following the government council meeting, Minister Delegate for the Budget Fouzi Lekjaa said the state will maintain the price of multi-use butane gas, particularly for household consumption, unchanged. To do so, the government will increase the subsidy to 78 dirhams per 12-kilogram cylinder, up from 30 dirhams, marking a 48-dirham increase per cylinder aimed at protecting citizens' purchasing power. Lekjaa noted that the cost of this subsidy amounts to approximately 600 million dirhams per month, as part of efforts to shield Moroccan households from potential price hikes. Regarding electricity, he confirmed that tariffs will remain stable, adding that the state allocates around 400 million dirhams monthly to ensure continued supply at unchanged prices.
