During his visit to Rabat, he will engage in discussions with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita, as part of the ongoing strategic dialogue between the two nations, reports a German public media outlet. This visit underscores the remarkable and ongoing growth in bilateral economic relations. Accompanying Wadephul is a delegation that includes the Parliamentary State Secretary of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. Today, Morocco has emerged as the second largest destination for German investments in Africa and its third largest trading partner on the continent. Nearly 300 German companies are active in Morocco, with around thirty maintaining production sites or subsidiaries, collectively creating approximately 35,000 jobs. The German Embassy hosted a conference on April 15 in Casablanca, focusing on German investments in Morocco. In 2024, net flows of German foreign direct investment (FDI) reached 2.1 billion euros. On the trade front, the exchange of goods between the two countries amounted to 7.4 billion euros in 2025, with Moroccan exports to Germany totaling 3.5 billion euros and imports at 3.9 billion euros. Germany ranks as Morocco's fifth largest customer and sixth largest supplier, underscoring the strong economic ties between the two nations. As a reminder, Rabat and Berlin pledged in August 2022 to a joint declaration aimed at establishing an expanded and forward-looking partnership.
