King Felipe and his spouse' visit to Morocco has been postponed for the second time, a spokesman for the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday, reports El Pais, a Spanish online newspaper. The official confirmed that the Spanish and Moroccan governments agreed that the royal trip had to be delayed to March. Diplomatic sources told the newspaper that the visit had not been officially announced yet but the preparations are under way including the bilateral agreements expected to be signed. The same sources couldn't reveal the reasons behind this postponement but assured that bilateral relations between the two countries are at their best. This is visible through Morocco and Spain's collaborations set to fight against terrorism and illegal immigration. For the record, King Felipe VI and his wife, Queen Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano were expected to visit the Kingdom of Morocco on the 9th of January. Invited by King Mohammed VI, the royal couple was planning to spend three days in the neighboring country. This is not the first time that the King and Queen of Spain postpone a visit to Morocco. They have been planning this trip for a while, but the situation in Spain in the last two years, particularly the crisis in Catalonia and the fight against terrorism, had forced them to delay their visit. The upcoming trip to Morocco will be the fifth of its kind since the accession of King Felipe VI to the throne in June 2014.
